Lawrence Douglas Hake

Doug Hake Wenatchee, WA Lawrence Douglas "Doug" Hake, 85, of Wenatchee, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2016 at home. He was born May 19, 1931 in Minot, ND to Lawrence Brown and Hilma Gladys Hake, the second of nine children. While a young boy, the family moved to Cashmere and later to Wenatchee, where he attended school, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1950. He met Lola J. Jenkins, in 1954, and they were married in East Wenatchee on May 9, 1956. They made their home in Wenatchee where they raised their three sons. Doug and Lola celebrated 47 years of marriage before her death in 2004. With 30 years of service, he retired from the City of Wenatchee Department of Public Works in 1985. Doug was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all of those who knew him. With a ready smile and a servant's heart, he was always willing to assist others and readily lend them a hand. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and rooting for his favorite teams - the Mariners, Seahawks, and the G.U. Bulldogs. He was an active member of the North Central Washington Prospectors. In his younger years he enjoyed singing tenor with the Apollo Club Men's Chorus, camping, and was a dedicated 4-H leader. In recent years Doug pursued traveling, cooking, attending church and spending time with his special friend and companion, Mary Loomis. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife; son, Larry; sisters, Peggy McArthur, Diane Stilinovich, Darlene Sheline, Nancy Turner; and brothers, Larry and Boyd. He is survived by friend, Mary Loomis; sons, Dennis (Nancy Jean) of Spokane and Brian of Coos Bay, OR; grandchildren, Ian, Emily, Christopher and Melinda; great-granddaughter, Layla; sister, Loretta Griffith (Orville) of East Wenatchee; and brother, Clifford (Linda) of Simi Valley, CA. A funeral service will be held at Eastmont Baptist Church, on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., 400 S. Kentucky, East Wenatchee, WA 98802. Concluding services and internment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in his name to Eastmont Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley.
