Lourdes Theresa Smith

In Loving Memory of Lourdes Theresa, devoted mother, grandma, sister, aunt, wife, daughter, and friend to many, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2018, at the age of 90, with her daughters by her side. She was born in Nogales, AZ, to George and Alicia Franklin. Her dad gave her the nickname "Cherry" at a young age, and it stuck with all her close family. She was the third of nine children, including: George, Nellie, Henry, Melvin, Kay, Patsy, Ronnie, and William. She later married and had daughters, Valerie and Phylis, in Arizona. The family moved to Washington in 1966, and settled in Wenatchee, WA, in the summer of 1972. She worked at Ma Bell Telephone for 37 years. She later retired to Sequim, WA, where she resided for 17 years, before returning to Wenatchee, in 2007, to be closer to family. Family was the most important thing to her. She was absolutely "Ga Ga" over all of her grandchildren. She was truly in heaven when she was loving on her babies. She was warm, endearing, and outgoing, and could make friends with anyone. Her amazing sense of humor came naturally and she loved to make people laugh. She had a selfless and giving nature, and supported numerous charities. She was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord. Get-togethers with family and friends were cherished times for her. She treasured her times with her PNB friends and former co-workers. She loved getting out and going shopping. She loved to cook, eat, dance, and sing during her lifetime. Her wonderful cooking will be missed by all. The family wishes to thank the staff, caregivers, and her friends at Blossom Valley Assisted Living, where she lived for the last 16 months. Many became like family and showed her such sincere, gentle, and loving care, and we are eternally grateful. We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses from Confluence Health for the special care you gave her over the years, and during her hospital stays. Lourdes was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alicia; siblings: George, Henry, Ronnie, and Nellie. She is survived by her daughters: Valerie (Roger) Throneberry, Phylis (Patrick) Michael; siblings: Melvin Franklin, Kay Llanes, Patsy Miranda, and Bill Franklin; granddaughters: Nicole, Brooke, and Kaleigh; great-grandsons: Nolan, Mason, Grant, and Easton; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, January 12, 2018, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 625 S. Elliott, Wenatchee, WA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee, WA.
