R. Marie Wheeler

Marie was born in Orondo, WA 11/17/1925 to James W and Ethel E Burrow. She worked as a telephone operator for General Telephone and transferred to Fresno, CA to work as a long-distance operator for Bell Telephone. There she married Herbert L Burrows in 1944. They had two sons, Curtis and Owen, and a daughter Lori. Herbert and Marie divorced in 1958. Marie met and married Stan Christensen in 1960 and had a daughter, Sherri. Together, Marie and Stan managed the liquor store in East Wenatchee until Stan became ill and passed away in 1965. Marie then met and married the final love of her life, William “Bill” Wheeler, in 1968. They combined their two families, including Bill’s sons, Harold and Don, and enjoyed many camping and fishing adventures together. One of their favorite activities together was bowling, and they both bowled in various leagues for many years. They also loved to dance and enjoyed being longtime members of the local square dance club. After Bill retired, they RV’d full-time for the next 10 years, making wonderful memories and new friendships all over the U.S. together. Bill died in 1996, and Marie continued traveling until 2006 and decided to settle down in Wenatchee near family. She is preceded in death by her sons Curtis Burrow and Harold Wheeler and is survived by her son Owen (Phyllis) Burrow, daughter Lori (Gary) Howe, daughter Sherri (Terry) Morrow, stepson Donald (Tracy) Wheeler, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family of her heart. Our heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at Blossom Valley and Hospice Care that took such excellent care of our mom and grandma.
