Roy Ashley Pipkin

Roy Ashley Pipkin died peacefully of cancer on August 9th in Wenatchee, WA. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. The son of Bill and Enda (Patterson) Pipkin, Roy was born October 16, 1939 in Cashmere, WA. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force until he was honorably discharged in 1959. Roy married Betty Jo Martin in 1962. They had two daughters Julie and Gina, who he loved dearly. Over the years Roy owned several successful businesses: Roy Pipkin Drywall, Tractor Sales and Equipment, Pacific Crest Contracting and was an orchardist for a short period of time. Roy was a founding member of the Valley View Seventh Day Adventist church which he loved very much. He was a loving poppy to nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren that loved nothing more than being at poppy and grandmas house riding the four wheeler with him. Roy had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. He loved all things nature and was an avid fisherman and hunter, making yearly trips to Alaska. In his younger years he raised and rodeo'd horses and cattle as well as raced dirt bikes. He was a licensed pilot and owned small private planes over the years. Roy passed his love for nature and the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. His greatest joy was being able to hunt and fish with them. Roy is survived by his wife Betty, his daughters Julie (Dan) Luce, Gina (Dennis) Flemens, nine grandchildren; Shina (Zac) Clark, Daniele Luce, Travis (Mina) Spurlock, Joshua Flemens, Katelyn (Ryan) Wilson, Jared Flemens, Holly (Matt) Roberts, Bradley Luce and Austin Flemens, five great grandchildren; Destiny, Zeke, Olivia, Boston, and Evie, sisters; Viola Milner, Janice Wassman, Rosalee (Glen) Underwood, brothers; Galen and Darold (Peggy) Pipkin. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Enda, and his brothers Sid, Bill and Bruce Pipkin. Services will be held at Valley View Seventh Day Adventist Church in East Wenatchee Monday August 18th at 10:00 am interment will follow at the Cashmere cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Roy's nurse Annette and CNA Janessa who cared for him so tenderly in his last hours of life.
