Ruth Caldwell Wildermuth

Ruth Caldwell Wildermuth, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2012, at the age of 82. Ruth was born to Ruth and Milton Anderson on the 4th of July, 1930, in Okanogan, WA. The celebration was short, as her mother passed away that same day. At the time, a single man could not raise a child, Milton lovingly allowed Ruth to be adopted by her maternal grandparents, Ethel and Roy Caldwell, on July 24, 1930, and moved to Omak, WA. Ruth grew up in Omak, graduating from Omak High School and then earning a business certificate in 1948 from Kinman Business School in Spokane, WA. She returned to Omak after completing her business studies to work at a bank. On May 31, 1952, she married Gil W. Wildermuth and they started their lives in Omak. They then moved to Spokane to pursue Gil's career and to start their family. In 1967, they moved their family to Brewster, WA and opened Brewster IGA. Ruth considered being a mother her most important job but, as a side job, she was the store's bookkeeper until 1978, when she retired. When Gil retired in 1987, they enjoyed nearly full time RVing. For several years, they crisscrossed the United States, and in their latter years, they would snowbird to Greenfield, AZ and enjoy shorter outings, meeting and making new friends along the way. After Gil passed in 1999, Ruth moved to Wenatchee to be closer to her daughter. She continued to snowbird, even enjoying a trip to England and Ireland, and spending time with her family. Ruth was preceded in death by birth parents, Ruth and Milton Anderson; her adopted parents, Ethel and Roy Caldwell; her five sisters; as well as her husband, Gil Wildermuth. She is survived by her daughters, Emily Lesky (Michael) of Orlando, WA and Doreen Piccini (Steve) of Mukilteo, WA; grandchildren, Stephen, Morgan, Aaron and Cheyenne Lesky, and Andrew, Nathan and Emily Piccini; as well as great-grandson, Joseph Lesky. We would like to thank the staff at Highgate Cottage for their patience, care and comfort provided to Ruth. Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in East Wenatchee, WA with Viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012. Interment will be held at Cashmere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, your remembrances may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA.
