Thelma Kathryn Ogdon

Thelma K. Ogdon, 86, passed away at Blossom Valley on August 31, 2011, where she had lived since March 2011. The wonderful staff of Blossom Valley welcomed her and they became her family and friends and she loved them all. She was born on May 18, 1925, to Perry and Katie Heater in Thompson Falls, MT, one of five children. She attended college in Cheney, WA as an English Major. She met her future husband, Ralph Ogdon, when he came along with a friend of Thelma's, home on leave from the Navy. Thelma traveled by train from Thompson Falls to Reno, NV, where she and Ralph were married in July 1944. Thelma lived on naval bases in California, while awaiting her husband's return from war, where their son, Mike, was born. After the Korean War, the family moved to Seattle, where daughter, Kathy, joined the family. They relocated to Wenatchee in 1960, where Thelma was a member and past President of Trinity Methodist Church Women's Society. She liked to golf, bowl and garden, and was a member of Wenatchee Garden Club. In 1967, they moved to Spokane, where Thelma was active in Audubon Methodist Church Women's Society as a past President. She volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital. Both Thelma and Ralph were volunteers for the Spokane Food Bank. Thelma loved the Spokane Opera and Civic Theater, which she always was sure to take her sisters along. She wanted others to share her joy in the things she loved. They returned to Wenatchee in 1999. Thelma is survived by her son, Mike (Rita) Ogdon of East Wenatchee; daughter, Kathy (Bob) Burnham of Wenatchee; grandchildren, Andy (Tammy) Ogdon of Bellevue, Jeff (Shanda) Hughes of East Wenatchee, Bailey (Carina) Burnham of Wenatchee, Riley Burnham of Mt. Vernon and David Jones of East Wenatchee; great-grandsons, Cody and Matthew Ogdon and Jerrod Hughes; her sisters, Ethel Stanfield and Dorothy Allen; and her brother, Richard Heater. She was preceded in death by her beloved Ralphie; her parents; and her brother, Harold. Thelma traveled the world with her Ralph; no doubt they will travel the universe together. Rest in peace mom, your work here is through; it was a job well done! We love you. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. A Private Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Central Washington Hospital Hospice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
