Velma T. Miller

On Tuesday, July 3, 2019, mom joined our dad, Don 'Jeep' Miller, in heaven on a beautiful sunny morning, having been surrounded by her loving children and family. With one long sigh, she said goodbye. Oh mom, we will miss you so much. Our tears have not dried and our hearts are heavy, but they are full of loving memories. Mom was born on July 13, 1922, in Malott, WA, to Julia (Collins) and William Turner. She was their first born, followed by her sister, Alma. They were raised in Wenatchee, WA, and attended Wenatchee High School. She worked at both the Liberty and Vitaphone Theatres as an usherette and supervisor. A young, handsome man named Don Miller caught her eye and soon a very special love story began. Mom and dad were married on June 2, 1941. Their first son, Don, Jr., was born in 1943, and Jerry in 1945. Dad served in the Navy and was overseas while the boys were young. Their dream of having a large family continued to grow to four boys and four girls. Mom loved jeep trips, golf, and dancing with dad. She was good at pistol and trap shooting, antiquing furniture, reading, playing piano, singing, and selling Avon. A great cook, baker, mom, wife, and outstanding grandmother. Mom and dad loved to travel with friends across the United States and see Julie in her shows. There were countless memories in Leavenworth, WA, on the Chumstick Highway at mile post five, known as "Fun Acker's", where family and friends were always welcome. Mom always said: "the more the merrier". Survivors include children: Don and Melissa Miller of Wenatchee, WA, Jerry and Cheryl Miller of La Quinta, CA, Melanie Salter, Pam and Frank Higgins, all of Wenatchee, WA, Julie Miller of Rancho Mirage, CA, Bill Miller of East Wenatchee, WA, Debbie and Dan Gaspar of Wenatchee, WA, Mike and Marcia Miller of East Wenatchee, WA; nephews: Len and Lise Pugsley of East Wenatchee, WA, Todd and Rhonda Pugsley of Albany, OR; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and two more great-grandchildren expected in November. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Don, in 2006; her parents; and sister, Alma Pugsley. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at the United First Methodist Church, 941 Washington St., Wenatchee, WA. Burial following at Wenatchee City Cemetery, 1804 N,. Western Ave., Wenatchee, WA. Services handled by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee, WA.
