Wayne W. Goodman East Wenatchee, WA Wayne W. Goodman, 93, of East Wenatchee, WA, was welcomed into Heaven Monday, February 3, 2014. His wife and six children were at his bedside and had the privilege of ushering him into glory, singing hymns in harmony as he entered into his rest. Born Warren Wesley Wayne Goodman on July 20, 1920, in Leoti, KS, to Oliver Perry "O.P." and Maude Edith Goodman, Wayne grew up with seven brothers and three sisters. His parents were married for 79 years and passed away at the ages of 101 and 98. Wayne was the last surviving sibling of this large family. Wayne was raised in Granada, CO, and moved to Washington state in search of work in 1941. In Aberdeen, WA, he met his wife, Gloria Dawn Rundell, and they were married there on December 20, 1941. They made their first home in nearby Cosmopolis. In 1949, they moved to Manter, KS, and Wayne became a wheat farmer, working with his brother-in-law. It was in Kansas, that Wayne and Gloria met the Lord and were saved in a small baptist church and have been faithful church attendees since then. In 1954, they moved to the Wenatchee Valley and have resided here for 60 years. Wayne had a strong work ethic, handed down from his father. O.P. retired from Centennial Flour Mills in Wenatchee at the age of 75. Wayne wanted to follow his father's example and he exceeded that goal, retiring from work in 2011, at the age of 91. Wayne always had a job and sometimes more than one. He did many different things to earn money to support his family over his lifetime. He worked in a lumber mill in Aberdeen, was a wheat farmer in Kansas, a gas station owner in downtown Wenatchee, and did janitorial work whenever necessary. His predominant jobs were working in the tire business for Royal and Sugg's Tire for about 29 years, and working for Goodman's Orchards for about 28 years. In many of these jobs he was able to work alongside his sons, Bob, Gary and Darrel. Wayne leaves behind his wife of more than 72 years, Gloria; and his children, Bob (and Julie) Goodman, Gary (and Gean) Goodman, Darrel (and Elaine) Goodman, Dawn (and Richard) French, Mary (and Tom) Chaplin, and Gus (and Dina) Goodman. Wayne was also blessed with 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. While those of us left behind will miss him terribly, we know that his passing has reunited him with his beloved parents, siblings, daughter-in-law and grandsons. We cannot count the lives touched by his presence, those who have passed and those of us who remain. Wayne's legacy was his faith in God, his love of his family, and his strong work ethic. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. Concluding Services and Interment will follow at the Wenatchee City Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the Service. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
